Cave "Jami na sredi" (correct position), Island Cres, Croatia
Cres Island

Beautiful cave about 40 minutes walk from the road Osor - Punta Kriza.

Take care when entering the cave, the track is quite steep and slippery. Jami na sredi consists of two connected halls, about 28 by 16 metres, forming an elliptical shape.
The main hall is quite large, steep walls climb to a height of about 28 m. In the centre there is an opening upwards where sunrays enter the hall.
It's quite cool inside the cave, there is a constant sound of water dripping down from the surface outside.
According to archaeological research the cave was inhabitated from the early stone ages until the middle ages to about 700 a.d. The cave dwellers collected Fruits, Snails and Seashells and hunted for food
