The Kugelbrunnen

The "Kugelbrunnen" is a fountain created in 1977 by Albert Sous in Aachen. He used stainless steel drums of washing machines. The sculpture was handed over to the public in October 1977.

The fountain consists of a six meter high iron pipe and three interlocking balls. Within eight minutes, the balls, consisting of two, four and eight segments, open

hydraulically and unfold to a flower. On top of the ball, water flows into a basin, which is designed with a lot of small ceramic balls in a spiral shape.
