Latvian-built electric rally raid vehicle at the Riga Motor Museum, Latvia

Latvian-built electric rally raid vehicle to be the first of its type in the world.

Andris Dambis, director of motorsport engineering company OSC, also an engineer and a rally driver, has taken on a new technical challenge. Making use of the latest developments in electric vehicle industry, his company is preparing a marathon rally car that will be propelled solely by electricity. Dambis reveals, “Electric vehicles can already be seen across various motorsport disciplines but nobody has dared to tackle rally raids like the Dakar. We will be the first.”

The car is designed and built in Latvia by a long-time race driver and engineer Andris Dambis with support from technical partners from China, USA, UK, France, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands.

OSCar eO is a range extended electric vehicle with a total range of 800 km in racing conditions. 16 modules of powerful and durable battery packs from Winston Battery with combined voltage of 512 V and total energy of 52 kWh.

One powerful permanent magnet electric motor (with support for regenerative braking) with 150 kW nominal and 335 kW peak power. Nominal torque 400 Nm, peak torque 800 Nm. Permanent magnet generator 60 kW (nominal) driven by Nissan V6 internal combustion engine, with 240 liter safety fuel cell.

OSCar eO aizsāk elektrisko rallijreidu auto ēru

Latvijā būvēts rallijreidu automobilis ar elektrisku piedziņu kļūs par pirmo šāda tipa auto pasaulē.

Šo tehnisko izaicinājumu uzņēmies OSC vadītājs, autosportists, izgudrotājs un inženieris Andris Dambis. Izmantojot jaunākos tehniskos sasniegumus elektroautomobiļu jomā, A. Dambja vadībā Ogrē tiek būvēts pilnvērtīgs sacīkšu auto maratoniem, kura riteņus griezīs tikai un vienīgi elektriskā strāva. A. Dambis: „Ar elektromobiļiem cilvēki jau startē dažādās sacīkstēs, taču tādā rallijreidā kā Dakara to vēl nav uzdrošinājies neviens.

Mēs būsim pirmie.” OSCar eO projekta mērķis ir ne vairāk, ne mazāk kā planētas grūtākās izturības sacīkstes Dakara 2012, kurā nolemts piedalīties, aizbraukt līdz galam un – uzvarēt. „Tas izklausās pārdroši, taču mēs patiešām mērķējam uz sava veida uzvaru klasē automobiļiem ar alternatīva tipa piedziņu,” precizē projekta iniciators un vairākkārtējs Dakaras dalībnieks Māris Saukāns.

OSCar eO открывает новую эру для электромобилей

Ударим электроприводом по Дакару!
Автоспортсмен, изобретатель и автоинженер Андрис Дамбис принял новый вызов – он решил создать нечто, чего до сих пор не было во всем мире. В Огрском техцентре “OSC” под руководством А.Дамбиса будет сконструирован гоночный авто, колеса которого вращает исключительно электроэнергия. Инженер применил новейшие, имеющиеся на теперешний момент достижения в области строения электромобилей. «Электромобили достаточно широко используются в автогонках, но вот на таком ралли-рейде, как “Дакар”, пока никто не брался реализовать подобную идею. Мы станем первыми», - заявляет Андрис Дамбис.

Проект “OSCar eO” можно смело называть проектом планетарного масштаба: с помощью своего электромобиля А.Дамбис хочет не просто принять участие на “Дакаре 2012”, но доехать до финиша и победить! «Это, может быть, звучит с преувеличением, но мы хотим выиграть гонку в классе автомобилей с альтернативным приводом», - уточняет ситуацию инициатор проекта и многократный участник Дакара Марис Сауканс.

This is an overview of Europe

Europe is generally agreed to be the birthplace of western culture, including such legendary innovations as the democratic nation-state, football and tomato sauce.

The word Europe comes from the Greek goddess Europa, who was kidnapped by Zeus and plunked down on the island of Crete. Europa gradually changed from referring to mainland Greece until it extended finally to include Norway and Russia.

Don't be confused that Europe is called a continent without looking like an island, the way the other continents do. It's okay. The Ural mountains have steadily been there to divide Europe from Asia for the last 250 million years. Russia technically inhabits "Eurasia".

Europe is presently uniting into one political and economic zone with a common currency called the Euro. The European Union originated in 1993 and is now composed of 27 member states. Its headquarters is in Brussels, Belgium.

Do not confuse the EU with the Council of Europe, which has 47 member states and dates to 1949. These two bodies share the same flag, national anthem, and mission of integrating Europe. The headquarters of the Council are located in Strasbourg, France, and it is most famous for its European Court of Human Rights.

In spite of these two bodies, there is still no single Constitution or set of laws applying to all the countries of Europe. Debate rages over the role of the EU in regards to national sovereignty. As of January 2009, the Lisbon Treaty is the closest thing to a European Constitution, yet it has not been approved by all the EU states.
