Augusta Raurica (Kaiseraugst), Temple Ruins at the Grienmatt. Augusta Raurica - Roman archeological site and an open air museum near the Swiss town Kaiseraugst. Colonia Augusta Rauricorum was founded approximately in 44 B.C. The settlement was named after the tribe of the Rauraci. The population of the wealthy settlement reached 20.000 people. In 250 A.D. a strong earthquake destroyed the city that was subsequently marauded by the Alemanni tribes and Roma troops.
