2004年象徵「登峰造極」的科技猴主燈，總高度約20公尺，當時以歷年最大主燈之姿現身，以「光耀北縣，幸福台灣」為使命，為台灣賀歲祈福。為紀念北縣府首次舉辦台灣燈會的紀錄，相關單位決定將主燈科技猴長期保存下來，時歷一年，在交通部觀光局補助下及地方相關單位的推動，將科技猴移置八里左岸-左岸劇場，並結合「科技」意涵，在主燈的周邊沿線架設了無線網路系統，期許成為北縣無線網路城的新指標。

八里的藝術氣息、人文色彩，在綠草如茵的左岸劇場綻放．八里的藝術節、街頭藝人的即興秀，滿足了每一個渴望藝術與自由的靈魂．附近包括水興宮、水興公園等，設有一座兒童遊樂屋、兩座夜間網球場、搖搖木馬、蹺蹺板、盪秋千及多座涼亭。
