The Maggiore Lake is the second largest lake in Italy, is located in the northwest and crosses the border with Switzerland. The Italian part of the lake lies within two regions: Piemonte and Lombardia. The lake has eleven islands being the most famous: Bella, Superiore or Fisherman and Mother between Stresa and Verbania. Lake Maggiore was formed by the melting of two glaciers, Monte Rosa, in Italy and Saint Gotthard Pass, at the Swiss. This panorama was taken near the lake in Stresa.
