Mississippi Lake in Henry W. Coe State Park, California
California

Mississippi lake is the largest of several small lakes and ponds scattered throughout Henry W. Coe State Park in California's Coast Range.  Mississippi lake used to be famous for the unexpectedly large fish that used to be caught there.  The lake these days is accesible only by a 12 or 13 mile hike, which on a hot day in June meant that we had the place pretty much to ourselves.
