Воссозданный Руинный мост. Каменный Руинный мост был построен в 1827-1829 годах по проекту архитектора А. А. Менеласа.Вблизи этого моста до 1941 года сохранялись руины бывшего меншиковского дворца Монкураж, отчего мост и получил название Руинный. Неокоренные стволы берез, положенные на гранитные глыбы, служили перилами. Въезды на мост были выделены массивными постаментами с огромными вазами. В 1941–1944 годах мост был взорван фашистскими захватчиками. Уцелели лишь восточный устой и два постамента с вазами.

Moscow has been the capital of Russia for almost its entire history. The exception is during the period of the Russian Empire, which lasted from 1721 until the Russian Revolution 1917. For these two centuries the capital was St. Petersburg. The Russian Empire was the second largest contiguous Empire in world memory; only the Mongol Empire had been greater.
