Wihan of Wat Ban Ping Chiang Mai
Thailand
Wat Ban Ping, วัดป้านปิง (sometimes spelled Wat Pan Ping, while Wat Bpan Bping with sounds between B and P would probably most correct ), is located opposite the more famous and far more interesting Wat Umong Maha Thera Chan on Ratchapakinai Road in central Chiang Mai, in the area with the highest density of ancient temples. The Wihan pictured here was destroyed by a fire late 2002. The reconstruction was completed in 2008. Today's splendid condition is proof that traditional temple construction skills and artisanship are alive and well in Chiang Mai.
