半屏山屬壽山國家自然公園範圍，位於高雄市左營區與楠梓區交界處，山勢呈東北-西南走向，最長處約2.7公里長，最寬處約0.8公里，外型傾斜像被斧頭削去一半，遠看像展開的屏風旗幟，清朝「鳳山縣采訪冊」裡如此形容：「…平地突起，形如列幛，如畫屏，故名半屏…」，這是半屏山名稱的由來。
