Die Golden Gate Bridge (engl. Goldenes-Tor-Brücke) ist eine Hängebrücke am Eingang zur Bucht von San Francisco am Golden Gate in Kalifornien. Sie ist das Wahrzeichen der Stadt San Francisco, der gesamten Bay Area und für viele neben der Freiheitsstatue von New York ein Symbol für die Vereinigten Staaten.
Das Bauwerk überspannt seit 1937 die Golden Gate Straße, den Eingang zur San Francisco Bay, mit einer lichten Durchfahrtshöhe von 67 Metern bei Hochwasser und verbindet mit seinen sechs Fahrspuren San Francisco mit den nördlichen Gebieten des Marin County und dem weniger dicht besiedelten Napa- und Sonoma-Valley.
Ein optisch als Bogenbrücke ausgelegtes Segment der Zufahrt der Brücke überspannt auf der Stadtseite das Fort Point.

Largely because of San Francisco and Silicon Valley, the Bay Area presently ranks second only to the much larger New York City region in number of Fortune 500 company headquarters (April 2010 Fortune Magazine).
