Long Man of Wilmington
England

The Long Man of Wilmington, is a 235 feet tall figure on the side of a hill near Wilmington, Near Eastbourne East Sussex, the site is in the care of the Sussex Archaeological Society.

The Long Man looks out over the East Sussex countryside, with views extending from beyond Glynde in the west, Heathfield in the North and towards Herstmonceux in the North East.

The large concrete lined hole in the foreground, is a no longer used Dew Pond, which use to be used to supply drinking water to grazing animals.

The body of water looking north is the 120 acres Arlington Reservoir.

Take the footpath to the top of the hill behind the Long Man and be prepared for a good workout, from there the view includes the Sea and the Belle Tout Lighthouse, which was moved back inland by 56 feet (17 Meters) in 1999 to stop it from falling into the sea.

For more information on the Long Man and the Charity which looks after it visit Sussex Archaeological Society Long Man website.
