竹子湖氣溫比臺北市區約低五度，秋冬季東北風來臨時，整個地區幾乎都籠罩多雨多霧的濕冷型態，當地2至5月花季時大量種植海芋，春夏氣候涼爽則種植寒帶蔬菜，由於地理環境的特殊與歷史人文的發展，使本地區成為專業的花卉與蔬菜生產區，多數時候是一片美麗的農園景致。

坐擁大屯山、七星山、小觀音山之間，竹子湖地區朝浸晨霧，夜探極星，冬賞海芋，夏望向日葵，一年四季漫步在臺北「後花園」美麗農園塊石溪溝邊的文學步道，景色千變萬化，戰勝風災水患成功的竹子湖，是臺北人偷得浮生半日閒的最佳去處。
