Big Tree in Tambopata, Peru

This is a huge tree locataed in Tambopata, Peru.  Trees need to grow very quickly to reach the sunlight of the canopy.  Because they have to grow so tall, sometimes over 150 feet, they have developed special root systems called buttress roots to support them.
