Arizona and Utah Border, Colorado City, Arizona USA
Utah
On Highway 386 in northern Arizona, right on the border with Utah, there are two small communities, Colorado City, Arizona and Hildale, Utah. This panorama shows the Arizona/Utah State line that runs along a street called the Southern Parkway. Colorado City, Arizona was formerly known as Short Creek and was founded by members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, commonly associated with their practice of plural marriage, also known as polygamy. The towns are located in Mohave and Washington Counties in Arizona and Utah respectively. There has been a great deal of publicity about the communities and their beliefs and practices and some legal actions taken against the members of the community. The communities are located in a remote part of Arizona called the Arizona Strip, that part of the state that is north of the Grand Canyon with very little access to and from the rest of the state.
