Gardens of the Parterre
Madrid
Parterre of symmetrical layout, inspired by that of Versailles. Built during the reign of Philip V, in the eighteenth century, was part of a project not made for a new palace. Although the trees and plants have been renewed several times, some copies are the original ones, such as some Mexican cypresses of more than 400 years supposedly brought to Spain by the conquistador Hernán Cortés (1485-1547).
