Resting Place of the Spirits - The Lighthouse at Cape Reinga
Northland

Cape Reinga sits on the northernmost tip of the North island of New Zealand and is considered a sacred place in Māori culture as the final place on earth before the spirits travel to their underworld.

Demarcating the Tasmanian sea to the west and the Pacific Ocean to the east, the lighthouse still has important maritime function.

More About Northland

Auckland is the commercial capital of New Zealand but anything to the North can be considered "Northland". Preferred destination for tourists and workers alike when surf, sand, diving and fishing is involved. It has a solid rural base of Dary, Beef and Sheep as well as horticulture and wineyards. Whangarei is the regional city on the way up to Cape Reinga at the northernmost tip of the island.
