Parking above Highway 101 at the Oregon Sea Lion Caves
USA
The Sea Lion Caves are the biggest tourist attraction on the coast of Oregon. The first public access was provided in 1932, and an elevator added in 1961. This stretch of the coastal highway, from north of Heceta Head, over a bridge, through a tunnel, along high cliffs, and finally down the grade to the dune flats near Florence, was the most difficult and expensive to build.
