The Selaron staircase, known in Portuguese under the names Escadaria Selaron or Escadaria do Convento de Santa Teresa is a street staircase located between the neighborhoods of Lapa and Santa Teresa, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

tourist attraction of the city, the staircase has the distinction of being decorated, along its length, more than 2000 tiles from 120 différents1 country. The staircase is a work by the artist from Chile Jorge Selarón (1947-2013) 2, a resident of the neighborhood and arrived in Brazil in 19833, who decorated several public places in Santa Teresa and Lapa. It was conducted on the occasion of the World Cup 1994 football.
