Up on the slope to the east, through the low brush, the river trail from Bass camp to the lower end of Shinumo Creek passes into Shinumo Canyon. Here, in the bottom of Shinumo Canyon, we are located just at the brink of the waterfall as Shinumo Creek flows into the Colorado River just a few yards away. Because of the twisting canyon the waterfall descends in a fashion such that it cannot be seen from above. For the same reason, the Colorado River cannot be seen even though it is just mere yards from here.
