Television-broadcasting tower

Kékestető Lookout (kilátó), Mátraháza

Standing at the highest point of Hungary the Kékestető television-broadcasting tower is 178 metres high. From the 134-metre lookout on a clear day not only the Bükk and Karancs Hills can be seen, but even the High Tatra Mountains in Slovakia. Built in 1880, the first 20-metre high lookout tower (the Mátra Tower) was later completely reconstructed. Demolished after World War II, the present tower was then erected in its place.
