Water Reeds on the Somerset Levels near Glastonbury. VR
England

This image has been re-mastered for Virtual Reality using a suitable viewer.

The Somerset Levels were an area of marshland and lagoons on the edge of the Bristol Channel with, on the horizon, Glastonbury Tor which was originally an island. Between the 10th and 14th centuries local abbeys drained the area for cultivation.

In 1607 the whole area was devastated by a tsunami some 8 metres high.

This part of the levels is called Ham Wall and is a Nature Reserve run by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.
