The "Zeche Zollverein" belongs to the "UNSECO Heritage of Industry". Nicely kept in original condition with guided tours inside and around the mine. Thousands of visitors from all around the world come and visite this open air museum. They learn about the work inside the mines, how the complex infrastructure of this industry was set up and how it worked.

More About Essen

Located along the river Ruhr, Essen was traditionally a significant coal and steel center, one of the largest in Germany. Essen has modernized, hosting a number of large German corporations and boasting a vibrant cultural offering at a number of venues, particularly the Aalto Theater, which is an architectural masterpiece and home to ballet and opera.
