I discovered panoramic photography in 1996 after graduating from university. At that time the only way to shoot panoramas was by stitching multiple frames using computer software and there was only approx 3 products out there for doing this, of which Apple's QuickTime VR Studio was by far the leading one (and I didn't even have a Mac).
After my first few panoramic images got a lot of interest and questions I started publishing information about how to shoot panoramas. I was trying to improve my own images and so started trying out lots of panoramic stitching software to try to find the best. I published the results of my tests as reviews. All this grew into what became www.panoguide.com, a website which was, for a little while, the world's leading website on panoramic photography. However all that took too much of my time to maintain and became a burden which I couldn't at that time work out how to resolve. I sold panoguide.com as an ongoing .com website business and focused on family.
I am now looking to get back into my panoramic photography. A lot has changed in particular the technology has become far more accessible and inexpensive. My interest remains on the photos themselves and as a personal enthusiast interest, not intending to be a full time photographer or panoramic pro.
