Maitland is situated on a ridge in the heart of the Yorke Peninsula, 169 kilometres from Adelaide in South Australia.

The town has a National Trust museum and well preserved historic buildings with views over Spencer Gulf and Yorke Valley. The newly redeveloped Heart of Maitland complex features the Chatt Centre which provides tourist information, public internet , email facilities, photo download, printing, fax, copying and scanning services.
