The church dates back to the mid 1100-century build by granitkvadre in the Romanesque style. In sengotisk time the ceilings were curved , and the tower built in monk bricks. The church was expanded in 1694 by Admiral Jens Rodsteen, partly in connection with the demolition of Tvenstrup Church, and by extension of a family chapel.
