People playing in Showa-park
Tama

This park is located in Akishima-city. You can see an steam locomotive displayed within the fence. The locomotive type "D51" was the most popular SL in Japan, more than one thousand cars of "D51" were manufactured mainly in World War II. On Sunday, many people lived near the park are playing on the ground. You can see some people playing "Gate ball", which is one of the popular sports for aged people, in the SE direction. Do not consider this park as "Showa memorial park", which is famous national park, which is located in the north of this park.

More About Tama

Tama area is the name of the western part of Tokyo Metropolis.  It consists of 26 cities, 3 towns and a village.  A lot of people (about 4 milion) live in a eastern half part of the area.  However, there are many mountains in the western part of Tama area, and there are very little flat land.  Many hiking spots are in the western area, so you can enjoy walking on the trail, camping, and so on.  If you see the beautiful mountain scene, you may not believe this is also in Tokyo.
