Ringgold, Georgia is where the The General locomotive stopped during the Civil War’s Great Locomotive Chase on April 12, 1862. The Battle of Ringgold Gap took place here on November 27, 1863, a Confederate victory. Entertainer Dolly Parton married her husband Carl Dean at the Ringgold Courthouse in 1966.
