Boca Paila is a well known local attraction for the Tulum area in Quintana Roo. It's located in the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. I took this shot from the old bridge for fun. The new bridge is very sturdy.
It's a great place for fishing. You'll see many locals here with hand lines and catching plenty of fish particularly at dawn and dusk. I've personally seen them hauling up fish weighing in at 20-25 lbs and having three of them like that already!
The water way is the one short cut to the back bay area on a peninsula extending 45 kilometers. Most visitors find this a great place to take a break on their way to Punta Allen.
