Hafenlohr is located in the Würzburg region, about 3 km north of Marktheidenfeld. The Catholic parish church of St. James on the Kirchberg is located in the center of the village. A small church probably stood here as early as 1336. The tower was built in 1651 and the church was demolished in April 1814. Only the tower and some parts of the chancel remained from the previous church. With the laying of the foundation stone in 1814, the church got its current appearance.
