Hafenlohr is located in the Würzburg region, about 3 km north of Marktheidenfeld. The name Hafenlohr comes from the Old Germanic root word "lara" and originally announced a natural pasture. Hafenlohr offers a typical Franconian townscape characterized by agriculture and silviculture. The old town center is towered over by the parish church of St. Jakobus.
