Ilot Mato is in the southern part of the largest coral reef lagoon in the world. It is part of the New Caledonian World Heritage Site and provides a protected coral reef anchorage for pleasure boats on most weekends. There is a small trail leading to the top of the 40 metre high island giving a view of the anchorage and the matrix of coral reefs. Une Nation du Pacifique Sud, la plus proche de l'Australie et de la Nouvelle Zélande.
