Over the old town of Kronach sits the former Bamberg castle of the bishop on the mountain Rosenberg. The oldest document that mentions the name "Rosenberg", dates back to 1249. The fort was never taken by enemies. The early Baroque fortress gate was built by Antonio Petrini.
