Kaiserburg castle is a former imperial residence in the Franconian town of Lauf an der Pegnitz. The castle was built as a compact facility on the relatively small river island and had to get along in skillful use of space with the limited area. To secure the main entrance served the gate tower, also called Wenzelsturm, with drawbridge and portcullis, flanked on both sides by walls and battlements.
