Оленьи бега традиционно прводятся на праздник "День оленевода" Как правило, это мероприятие проводят совместно с зимней спартакиадой. В завершение игр на центральной улице Ленина строят снежную трассу, на которой соревнуются лыжники, затем проводят соревнование между оленеводами на оленьих упряжках. Победителю достается вездеход "Буран" или "Yamaha".
