Sinwei Forest Park
Taiwan
Located in the Xinwei Neighborhood of Liugui District in Kaohsiung, this park used to be a rugged foothill and local residents called it "Ping Ding," meaning platform. In 1957, the land was leased to the Forestry Bureau who transformed it in 1960 into the "Xinwei Nursery Garden." It is now a tropical forest park with mostly mahogany trees, bamboo and fir. Rows of trees form natural corridors that shade hikers in spring and summer, and turn to red and yellow during autumn and winter, instilling an idyllic mood throughout the garden.
