Stirling Castle - Robert the Bruce
Scotland
Stirling Castle – mostly built in the 15th and 16 century - is the largest castle in Scotland. Quite a few Scottish kings and queens have been crowned here. And many of them used the castle as their palace. The castle also played in important role in the Wars of Scottish Independence. Robert the Bruce is a national hero of Scotland. He lived from 1274 to 1329 and was King of Scotland from 1306 – 1329. During his reign Robert I. secured the Scottish independence.
