«Башня-руина», построенная неизвестным архитектором (возможно, Еготовым) в 1804-1805 годах, - одно из самых романтических сооружений царицынского парка. Два фрагмента крепостной стены по сторонам башни, сложенные из дикого камня с кирпичными вставками, создают образ старинного замка-крепости. Крутые ступени вели прежде к обзорной площадке прямо по гребню стены, отчего постройка получила название «Чертовой лестницы». Башню со стрельчатым дверным проемом и решетчатым окном завершал ажурный бельведер. В начале XIX века в башне находился стол со скамьями
