Veitshoechheim - St. Vitus interior view
Franconie

The church Veitshöchheim belongs to the parish of St. Vitus, diocese of Würzburg. The first documentary mention of a previous building dates back to the year 1097. Under Prince-Bishop Johann Gottfried von Guttenberg, the church was rebuilt from 1690 - 1691. Master builder was Christian Hermann. The high altar is adorned by the coat of arms of the Prince Bishop. The choir cross dates from the mid-16th century and is attributed to the workshop of Tilman Riemenschneider.
