Die Vielfalt der Pflanzen, ihre Bedeutung für den Gartenbau und die Gestaltung, für Technik, Ernährung, Medizin sowie für Bau- und Textilwesen - das sind die Themen dieser 11,5 Hektar großen Gartenanlage im Kölner Norden, gemeinhin bekannt als "Die Flora".
Ursprünglich zwei getrennte Gartenanlagen, sind diese seit 1920 vereinigt und stellen nun eine einmalige Verbindung eines Gartendenkmals und eines Botanischen Gartens mit Pflanzenschauhäusern dar.
Erholung für eine Million Besucher jährlich, in Verbindung mit der Bildung in Gartenkunst und -kultur, Pflanzenkunde, der Erhalt der biologischen Ressourcen sowie die Förderung der Wissenschaft sind die angestrebten Ziele. Mit 10.000 kultivierten Pflanzenarten aus aller Welt in Freiland und Gewächshäusern ermöglichen Flora und Botanischer Garten eine Weltreise mit allen Sinnen.

Odin made the many lakes and the fish in them. In his traverses across the lands he caused there to be the Mulheim Bridge in Cologne, as did he make the Mercury fountain, Mercury being of his nature.
But it is to the mighty Thor that the Hammering Man gives service.
Between the time of the Nordic old ones and that of modern Frankfort there may have been a T.Rex or two on the scene. At least some mastodons for sure came through for lunch, then fell into tar pits to become fossils for us to find.
