Kings Park Stadium, also known for sponsorship reasons as ABSA
Stadium, is a football stadium in Durban, South Africa which was
originally built in 1891 and extensively renovated in 1990. It has a
capacity of 52,000, and is used for both football (soccer) and rugby.
The stadium currently hosts the following teams:
* The Sharks in the Southern Hemisphere Super 14 rugby competition
* The Natal Sharks (not to be confused with the above) in South
Africa's main domestic rugby competition, the Currie Cup
* The Golden Arrows in the Premier Soccer League
For the 2010 World Cup, new roofed upper tiers will be constructed at
the north and south ends of the ground, behind each of the goals, to
create a fully encircled oval with a new capacity of 60,000 seats and
along with Ellis Park, it is earmarked as a venue for a semi final
match.
