The University of KwaZulu-Natal has various campuses across the province.

In Pietermaritzburg, there are three campuses: Pietermaritzburg Main Campus, Agriculture Campus and Golf Road Campus.

The Golf Road Campus of UKZN is home to the Hexagon Theatre, which seats hundreds of people and regularly hosts various performances. This campus is also home to the UKZN Theology department.

Kwame Nkrumah, first Prime Minister of Ghana, advocate of uniting Africa in Pan-Africanism.
