Beech forest in Selva de Irati in Navarra
Northern Spain
The Selva de Irati is the second largest and best preserved beech-fir in Europe, after the Black Forest of Germany. An immense green spot of about 17,000 hectares that remains in an almost virgin state. It is a natural treasure with great ecological value. Bushy beech, grassland, fir trees and fresh waters paint a landscape of bright colors that transforms with each new season. A forest that will give you a multitude of sensations: the encounter alone with nature, the wild sound of water between beech and fir trees, the freshness of the Irati river or the Irabia reservoir, the elusive sound of animals and fallen leaves in autumn, the smell of the fruits of the forest and the softness of the mantle of grass that covers this jewel of the Pyrenees.
