Calabozo de Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla en la ciudad de Chihuahua

El lugar que sirvió de prisión a Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla estuvo en lo que fue originalmente el Colegio de Jesuitas; la primera piedra se colocó el 2 de febrero de 1718. Ocupaba el Colegio el perímetro del actual Palacio de Gobierno, parte del palacio Federal y el espacio de la Calle Libertad, comprendido entre ambos.

A los pocos meses, el cura Don Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla fue apresado junto con Ignacio Allende, después de una derrota sufrida ante el ejército imperialista en Acatita de Baján, hoy Estado de Coahuila. Los prisioneros fueron traídos a Chihuahua y confinados en las instalaciones del antiguo Convento de los Jesuitas, para luego ser juzgados y condenados al paredón. La sentencia se ejecutó el 30 de julio de 1811 en la parte trasera de la iglesia del convento, sitio donde hoy se encuentra el Altar a la Patria, dentro de lo que actualmente es el Palacio de Gobierno.

This is an overview of North America

North America includes Mexico, the United States, Canada, and Gotham City.

The region temporarily existed as a Protectorate of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Norton I, with its capital being the city of San Francisco. Sadly, this term of benevolent ebullience lasted a brief two decades and ended c. 1880.

The United States is now the dominant country of North America. It arose as a nation only 225 years ago after a successful rebellion against the British government under King George III.

From a distance, it appears that the eastern coastlines of North and South America fit exactly into the west coast of Africa. In fact, about 250 million years ago these continents really were all connected in one land mass that we have named Pangaea.

With such a foundation in tectonic unity, there is no doubt that someday soon the people on every continent of earth will realize their fundamental similarities. Expect massive leaps in creative output in your area!
