Canyonlands National Park - Shafer Canyon Overlook

Canyonlands National Park for me is a kind of Grand Canyon "light". It is surely not as big as the Grand Canyon, but it unveils similar views and it is much easier to experience. And of couse it is not as packed as Grand Canyon in respect of number of visitors.

A visit to Canyonlands can be easily combined with Arches which is right "around the corner", but you will need a full day just for visiting the easy to get areas.
