On May 15, 2008 an agreement with the “Nacionālā Būvkompāniju apvienība” was signed. The construction companies “RBSSKALS”, “Skonto Būve” and “Re&Re” has undertaken to build the Latvian National Library building in the next three years.
The idea is to build a new library building called the Castle of Light, along with a repository and the National Unified Library Information System or Network of Light.
