China Mountain (8551'/2606m) summit (gigapixel)
California

Gigapixel view from the summit of China Mountain (elev. 8,551') in the Scott Mountains west of Weed, California.  The mountain is the second highest in the region after Mount Eddy.  Views of the Scott Valley & Shasta Valleys in fog, Mount McLoughlin to the north, Mount Shasta & Mount Eddy to the east, South China Mountain & the Trinity Alps to the south & the Marble Mountain Wilderness to the west.  The summit is adorned with a nearly seven foot tall cairn (which I stood on for this panorama).  The summit area houses whitebark pine on the south face along w/ the rare foxtail pine.
