Cinelandia is a public square in downtown Rio de Janeiro. It was named after a collection of popular movie theaters that have since closed. Today, the main attraction is the Municipal Theatre, completed in 1909. The National Library (Biblioteca Nacional) is another important building, but it was under construction at the time of my photography. Also notable is a monument dedicated to the second president of Brasil, Floriano Peixoto.
