Cory Peak (7740'/2359m) summit (gigapixel)
California

Gigapixel view from the summit of Cory Peak (elev. 7,740') east of Callahan, California.  The mountain is easily accessible from the Pacific Crest Trail near Kangaroo Lake.  Here one can see South China Mountain, China Mountain, Mount Eddy, & Mount Shasta to the east, south towards the Trinity Alps Wilderness & Trinity Lake area, west towards Craggy Mountain & the Russian & Marble Mountain Wilderness, & north towards the Scott Valley.  The entire region is comprised mainly of peridotite (serpentine) rock, relatively uncommon in the world but in great abundance in this region.  Jeffrey pines are the dominant tree in these higher elevations.
