竹子湖地區已自風災土石流的創傷中逐步再造，而相繼呈現新風貌、新活力。

以砌石固床工減緩溝水流速，以渡槽方式架設排水路，構築農村野趣美景，並具生態教育功能。溪溝護岸除採自然塊石疊砌，並於跌水處營造成激流效果，採分斷跌水蓄積溪水，並以不同的蓄水深度，營造多樣化的生態環境，以利各種水生動植物的生長。
